Settings App not working in Windows 10

Windows 10 provides more features for the end users and it is customized user friendly. Re-registering the Settings App helps you to fix the issue with Settings app not working. You can use Windows PowerShell tool to perform the task. You can refer the below steps.

  1. Press Windows logo + X keys on the keyboard and select the option Windows PowerShell (Admin). Click on YES or OK if prompted.

2. In the PowerShell screen, copy/paste the below command and hit enter.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers -Name windows.immersivecontrolpanel | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register “$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml” -Verbose}

3. Wait for a while and let the command to run. Once it is completed, close the PowerShell and reboot your computer.

Now, try to launch Settings App and see if the issue got resolved. If the issue remains, you can proceed with the further resolution steps.

Create New User Account:

If the issue remains even after re-registering the Settings App, you can try creating new user account on your Windows 10 computers. To create a new user account, follow the below steps.

  1. Press Windows logo + R keys on keyboard to open RUN window, type lusrmgr.msc and click on OK.

2. In the lusrmgr window, right click on Users and select the option New User.

3. It will launch the New User window. Fill in all the required details and click on Create button.

4. It will create a New User Account on your computer. Sign-out from the old account and login to the new user account and try launching the Settings App.

5. Settings App should work fine and you can move all the data from old user account to the new one.
